As Marco tells the khan about Armilla, that "it has nothing that makes it look like a city, except for the water pipes that rise vertically where the houses should be and extend horizontally where should be the floors, "Octavia's web city, and other wonderful wonders, it could be that he is creating them all with his imagination, or perhaps he is recreating fine details of his native Venice over and over again, or perhaps it is simply recounting some of the countless possible forms that a city could take.
